Hardly anyone (including those who wrote it and voted for it) likes the Spelthorne Local Plan and its impact on communities across the borough (especially in Staines).
Residents must fight for fewer new homes to be built in Staines (5,000+ are currently planned). There are two ways to achieve this :
* A lower housing ‘target’ for the borough. The government has already begun to open the door to this.
or
* A reduction in the burden on Staines (currently 55 per cent of the borough’s
entire housing ‘target’).
