More than 600 residents have contributed their views to our survey on aspects and consequences of Spelthorne Council’s plans to dump 55% of the borough’s entire housing target on Staines, peppering the town with tower-blocks of tiny flats and increasing the town’s population by 50%. SPELTHORNE BOROUGH COUNCIL’S 15-YEAR PLAN for the borough will have a dramatic and significantly greater impact on Staines than on any other community in the borough. If implemented it would transform the town through grotesque over-development leading to a 50 per cent population increase. As things stand, the Council will send its plan to the government Planning Inspectorate later this year.
